Per Anger
Per Anger was a
diplomat assigned to the Swedish Legation in Budapest during World War II and
worked with Raoul Wallenberg in his efforts to save
Hungarian Jews from annihilation by the Nazis. For his work a tree was planted in Yad Vashem in Israel in his honor
for having saved Jews. Anger later
became Swedish Ambassador to Canada and Swedish Ambassador to Australia. Throughout the rest of his diplomatic
career, he continued to support efforts of the Swedish Foreign Ministry to
press the Soviet government for full disclosure of Raoul
Wallenberg’s fate.
