Tom Lantos
As a young boy
living in Budapest, Tom Lantos was one of the thousands of Hungarian Jews
rescued by Raoul Wallenberg by having been placed
into a Swedish ‘safe house’. As an adult having immigrated to
the United States, he was later elected to Congress in the House of
Representatives from the State of California. Congressman Lantos introduced the House
Resolution resulting in Public Law 97-54, 95 Statutes at Large 971, according Raoul Wallenberg Honorary Citizenship of the United States
of America. Similar laws were later
enacted in Canada, Australia, Israel, and Hungary.
